This month has brought major zoo news along with the Houston summer weather! After a pregnancy lasting almost 23 months Shanti, an Asian elephant delivered a healthy, 348-pound baby boy named Baylor. Now the McNair Asian Elephant Habitat is currently closed to the public until the elephant care team has seen signs that Baylor is settling into his new home.
