British Regency Holiday Traditions

Hear about holiday traditions from the British Regency era of the early 1800s when Fort Bend County Libraries, in conjunction with the Jane Austen Society of North America – Greater Houston Region, as they present this program. Local author Grace Scheufler will share her extensive research of the majestic Regency era in which Jane Austen lived and wrote. Hear how the British people of that era celebrated the holidays, including how they dressed, the types of food they served, and how they decorated their homes. English tea and light finger-foods that are reflective of the time period will be served. The program is free and open to the public. Charity Boo Bash
