Behind the Badge Charities has awarded more than $173,000 in financial assistance to date. Assistance has been presented to personnel from police departments of Richmond, Katy ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Sugar Land, Missouri City and Stafford along with the Stafford Fire Department, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Bend EMS and the Rosenberg Fire Department. Behind the Badge Charities also awards academic scholarships to eligible dependent children of emergency responders in Fort Bend County. This year, academic scholarships totaling more than $45,000 have been set aside for the 2014-2015 academic year. Scholarships have been presented to children of personnel from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Sugar Land Police Department, the Richmond Police Department, the Fulshear Police Department, and the Stafford Police Department. Sponsorship opportunities for the gala range from $1,000 to $7,500. Individual tickets are $35 each and tables of 10 can be reserved for $500. Color for a Cause

Color for a Cause is a 5K color run is hosted by the James E. Taylor High School chapters of National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. The run benefits the Arc of Katy, a local non-profit organization that creates opportunities for persons with special needs. Registration is currently $30 and will be $40 after February 20, 2015; forms are available at and can be turned in at Taylor High School. Concert for a Cause

Fort Bend County Libraries presents a program for individuals of all nationalities who would like a place to practice their English language and conversation skills. The “Conversation Circles” provide an opportunity for non-English-speaking people to gather in a relaxed setting, and discuss topics of their own choosing while practicing their English skills. Men Who Mentor Breakfast
