Indian Dance Performance

In recognition of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month in May, Fort Bend County Libraries will host a performance of Indian folk dance by Studio Mudra School of Dance. Enjoy a demonstration of classical, folk, and contemporary dances of India performed with spectacular costumes by the students of Studio Mudra School of Dance, led by artistic director Rashmi Shashi. Get a glimpse of the different types of Indian dance, as well as the culture and traditions behind them. The program is free and open to the public. The Lone Star Symphonic Band performs Oh, the Place We Will Go. Selections to be performed at this concert include Russian Folk Dances, English Folk Song Suite, Mannin Veen, Thunder and Blazes March, Gearbox (an automotive/mechanical inspired piece), Pastime (a tribute to Baseball), The Pathfinder to Panama March, among other travel-inspired pieces.  The Lone Star Dixieland Band will perform out in the foyer for 30 minutes prior to the concert. Cinco Ranch Branch Library will present a performance by the Noyes Fine Arts Foundation of an original musical-theater production of Princess Penelope’s Pet Parrot. The Noyes Fine Arts Foundation is a not-for-profit community-arts organization committed to bringing semi-professional theater and fine arts education to the Katy area. The program is presented with the generous support of the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales and annual membership dues help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library.
