Katy Eateries Provide Fun Play Areas for Kids

Where can diners get a delicious meal in Katy while the kids play nearby? These local restaurants have fun play areas with everything from simple sandboxes to elaborate play structures. While the kids are waiting for their entree or even after their tummies are full, they’ll enjoy a little playtime at these Katy area restaurants.

Texas Borders Bar & Grill **
19910 Park Row, 281-578-8785

A huge outdoor playground has a new play set for older children and a separate toddler play area with sand throughout. Outdoor dining is optional on the deck adjacent to the play area. A kid’s menu doubles as a coloring sheet, and the children’s entrees come with fries and a fountain drink. First-time guests receive free chips and salsa, the wait staff is friendly and accommodating, and the food is outstanding.

Victor’s Mexican Restaurant **
1939 Fry Road, 281-578-6450

A climbing structure with a slide and a one-child “roller coaster” entertains kids in a fenced outdoor play area. Adjacent to covered outdoor seating, this play area has sand for safety. As an added incentive, kids can eat for 99 cents every Tuesday after 5:00 p.m.

Willie’s Grill & Icehouse

Two partially shaded sandboxes offer kids an alternative to sitting at the table. A small sandbox is located near the entrance and a larger sandbox is adjacent to the main dining area. A game room has several video arcade games, so the kids have plenty of entertainment options. The generously portioned kids’ meals are $3.59 and include a side dish and a drink.

Lupe Tortillas
318 Stafford Street, 281-496-7580

This outdoor play area has a toddler climbing structure with a slide and multiple “roller coasters”. Many sand toys are available for younger kids who may prefer to play in the sand or build their own masterpiece. Crayons are available for coloring on the kids menu, the staff is very accommodating, and small rooms within the restaurant give families some privacy from other guests. Excellent food and huge tortillas make this special place a treat!

Joe’s Crab Shack

With its huge climbing structure, two tube slides one toddler slide, partial shade, and pea gravel groundcover, this playground gets an A+ with the kids as well as the parents. This one is great for kids of all ages and is positioned adjacent to the covered outdoor seating area. The $3.99 kid’s meals offer generous portions and include a side dish and drink.

Clay’s Restaurant

Clay’s has a huge grassy outdoor area for kids to run and play! It’s complete with a covered sandbox, picnic tables, and a covered porch adjacent to a fenced petting zoo with sheep, goats, horses, emus, and ducks. Plenty of hand-sanitizer dispensers are mounted on the fence. A game room with classic video arcade games offers FREE games all day Monday – Thursday. The rustic, country atmosphere is a great getaway and a great chance to let the kids explore and discover. Dress your kids for play – they may get a little dirty, and they will definitely have a lot of fun! The menu offers a variety of Texas fare – burgers, sandwiches, salads, and of course chicken fried steak. Kids meals are $3.99 and include fries and a drink. This is an outing, so be sure to give your family and kids plenty of time to make the most of this dining experience!

Café del Sol Mexican Restaurant

For toddlers, this is a great alternative to being strapped into a high chair to eat! A covered sandbox play area is situated next to a covered outdoor eating area so the kids are supervised and the adults can enjoy their meal. Kid’s meals are 99 cents all day on Mondays and Tuesdays for kids 12 and under. Come for the Mexican food, stay to play!

Chick Fil-A

A brand new indoor play area has been added to the Mason Road location. Both locations now boast a fabulous indoor play area a climbing structure, tubes, and a slide with rubber flooring. A separate Toddler Town area has hands-on activities for kids 3 and under. Parents can enter the play area or supervise through the glass from tables adjacent to the play area.
Kid’s meal tip: Most of the toys included are educational, which is great if you have older kids. If you have younger kids, you can ask for a toddler toy or trade the toy for soft-serve ice cream!

Chuck E. Cheese’s

During the week, during off-peak hours, this can be a great place to take kids who love to explore tubes and slides. Parents can observe from booths below while choosing from a menu of pizza and sandwiches. Of course, there are plenty of games to play as long as the tokens are flowing. Chuck E. Cheese’s takes security seriously, matching children with adults before they leave the restaurant.

A huge indoor play area with tubes and slides is adjacent to the dining area and has rubber flooring. Kids love the food and toys, and parents love the large air-conditioned play area for active play in any weather!

This impressive indoor play area with tubes and slides is adjacent to the dining area and has rubber flooring. The Happy Meals and toys are a favorite with kids, and the play area is large enough to meet friends for a play date!
