Is Yours One of the Best Named Streets in Katy?

Some street names just don't seem to fit the environs of Katy, Texas.
Maybe the namer had a sense of humor. How about "Mountain Forest Drive"? On my short drive on that street, the highest mountain I encountered was a speed bump and trees I saw hardly constituted a forest. Then there's "Red Rock Canyon Drive". It's a beautiful park near
Las Vegas, but unlike there, I saw neither red rocks nor any canyons. Did you ever wonder who names these streets? I envision a group of master-planned development employees sitting around a table, gobbling donuts, and spewing forth what they think are cute and soothing
street names. Outside of those areas that are specifically theme-based, the common criteria for naming streets seems to be that it has to be a really long and inconvenient-to-write name and it must contain one of the following designated nouns: Meadow, Prairie, Park,
Mountain, Valley, Ridge, Canyon, Trail, Lake, Creek, River, Village or Estate. They may choose to occasionally throw in a modifier such as Winding, Enchanted, Misty, Windy or Whispering. Moving onto Enchanted Meadow Lane or Whispering Lakes Drive sounds really romantic
until you start having to write your address over and over. Then it's a real pain! It's easy to imagine why Elm Street is the most common street name in the country.
Good intersection names can be just as entertaining. In Albany, Georgia, there is the corner of "Lonesome" and "Hardup". Type in wacky street names on your web browser and you'll come up with all sorts of fun names. I liked the corner of Grinn and Barrett. The one I
came up with in this area was "Tinker Round" at "Katyland". Does Katy have some more titillating intersections?
There are all sorts of interesting street names out there. Stay on the lookout. You'll never know when you'll find something really fun. By the way, my favorite street name in Katy…."Unicorns Horn Lane". What's yours?
